On April 20, at his meeting with Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov at the Governor's Palace of the Kazan Kremlin, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Russia Ihab Nasr shared his positive impressions of Kazan and the republic.
Welcoming the guests, Minnikhanov noted that Egypt is one of the important trade and economic partners of Tatarstan. He said that the bilateral foreign trade turnover between Tatarstan and Egypt amounted to 22.8 million US dollars in 2017.
Speaking about the resumption of regular flights between Russia and Egypt (since April 12 this year), Minnikhanov noted that the tourism is one of the priority areas for the region.
The Ambassador of Egypt to Russia and Tatarstan President also discussed the possibilities of further development of relations in the field of education. It was noted that regional higher educational institutions are actively cooperating with the universities of Egypt. As many as 55 people from Egypt are studying at the universities in Kazan.
We need to give a new impetus to the development of our relations, Minnikhanov said, adding that there are opportunities for this, first of all, in the field of economy.
