Rustam Minnikhanov congratulates residents of Tatarstan on Eid al-Fitr

15 June 2018, Friday

On June 15, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated residents of the republic on Eid al-Fitr.

"Dear residents of Tatarstan! Dear compatriots! From the bottom of my heart, I congratulate you on the end of the fasting month and the blessed holiday of Eid al-Fitr!

This great day invariably fills the hearts of millions of Muslims with feelings of bright joy, pious pacification and sincere gratitude to Allah for his boundless mercies. Strictly following the instructions of the Noble Qoran, throughout the holy month of Ramadan, believers observed the fast by sincere prayers and good deeds, purifying their souls and strengthening the moral foundations of the ummah.

While celebrating Eid al-Fitr, Tatarstan has absorbed the centuries-old spiritual and religious traditions of our ancestors based on the ideals of peaceful coexistence, deep respect for the native language and rich Tatar culture. It is gratifying that every year Muslim charity and philanthropy are taking on new forms, embracing more and more social groups in our republic. Iftars are held everywhere. The regional iftar that was held a few days ago gathered about ten thousand people alone.

In Tatarstan, where representatives of many ethnicities and religions live in peace and harmony, Eid al-Fitr is one of the most revered and widely celebrated holidays. It is symbolic that the guests of the FIFA World Cup will be able to join our unique spiritual traditions.

Today, believers gather for a joint prayer and arrange generous festive feasts, asserting themselves in their commitment to self-improvement, goodness and mercy.

Let this wonderful holiday give us all the joy of spiritual renewal, unity and creative work! I wish you happiness, health, peace and prosperity!

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov.”
