Rustam Minnikhanov meets Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan in the Kazan Kremlin

On July 6, in the Kazan Kremlin, at his meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, Co-chairman of Intergovernmental Russian-UAE Commission on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan is grateful to the leadership of the United Arab Emirates for the attention it pays to cooperation at the interregional level as part of the Russia-UAE relations.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan led the delegation of the UAE arrived on a short visit in Kazan to attend a meeting of the Intergovernmental Russian-UAE Commission on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation.

During the meeting, Minnikhanov also thanked Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan for supporting a proposal to hold a meeting of the Commission in Kazan.

"We will make every effort to hold the meeting at a high organizational level," Minnikhanov said. "I am sure that the meeting of the commission in our republic will contribute to strengthening the relations between the two countries."

According to Minnikhanov, Tatarstan attaches great importance to the development of relations with the UAE. He stressed the importance of the exchange of delegations, participation in joint events and business forums. All these events guide the business community towards long-term cooperation, the achievement of specific results.

"The UAE is one of the most attractive partners for developing economic contacts," Minnikhanov said. “Thanks to the wise management policy, your country is a prosperous state with a strong and stable economy. The governments and business circles of our states are making efforts to expand cooperation in various fields. For its part, Tatarstan is ready to participate actively in these processes at the regional level.”

Tatarstan President also noted that after having meetings with representatives of the UAE it was decided to promote and develop a halal lifestyle. On this point, active work is underway with the Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre.

Minnikhanov also briefly told about the economy and industrial potential of the region. He noted that Tatarstan is ready to promote its products to the UAE market, including products of the defense industry complex.

Moreover, there are good opportunities for expanding cooperation in education, culture, sports and tourism, Tatarstan President added. He noted that the UAE is a favorite vacation spot among Tatarstan tourists and that direct flights between Kazan and Dubai are available.

In his turn, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan noted the high role of Tatarstan in strengthening the trust between Russia and the UAE, in the further development of relations between Russia and the Islamic world.
