On August 24, at the Governor's Palace of the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, who arrived on a two-day working visit in Tatarstan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed promising areas of cooperation between Tatarstan as one of Russia's regions and the Republic of Turkey, including further promotion of Tatarstan petrochemical products, gas pumping and medical equipment to the Turkish markets.
“We pay special attention to the development of relations between Turkey and Russia in strengthening interregional cooperation,” Minnikhanov said during the meeting.
According to him, Tatarstan and Turkey have every opportunity to develop relations.
“Turkey is one of the leading foreign partners of Tatarstan. Last year, our trade turnover increased by more than 40 per cent and today it is growing. We need to work more aggressively, there are good conditions for this,” Minnikhanov noted.
Minnikhanov expressed his gratitude for the investments of Turkish business to Tatarstan economy. He said that there are 11Turkish plants successfully operating in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone.
“We value our brotherhood with the Turkish people. And this is not only economic relations, but also cultural and spiritual ties,” Tatarstan President said.
After the meeting, Minnikhanov and Çavuşoğlu answered journalists’ questions.
