On May 27, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov arrived on a working visit in Naberezhnye Chelny to take part in a solemn launch of a new plant of frames for KAMAZ cabins.
Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov, Director General of the Rostec State Corporation, Chairman of the Board of Directors of KAMAZ Automaker Sergey Chemezov, Director General of KAMAZ Automaker Sergey Kogogin and other officials took part in the event.
Before the beginning of the event, Minnikhanov, Komarov and Chemezov looked around production lines of the new plant. The KAMAZ started the construction of the facility together with the Daimler company in 2016. The manufacturing area consists of four workshops, in particular painting, welding, logistics and energy centre. The total area of the enterprise is about 70,000 square meters with production capacity of 55,000 cabins per year.
In his speech, Komarov emphasized that the KAMAZ plant is dynamically developing and a large-scale modernization of capacities is being implemented at the enterprise. “Great work has been done. The most modern high-tech production facility has been established and advanced technologies have been used for several years,” he said.
Minnikhanov said that the launch of the plant took place in the year of the 50th anniversary of KAMAZ Company. He noted that due to the joint work of KAMAZ and Daimler specialists, a modern production facility of cabin frames was established in three years. At the same time, the modernization of existing facilities and work on the production of K5 generation trucks is underway.
Minnikhanov thanked the leadership of the Russian Federation and the Rostec for the support provided during the implementation of this project. “In our turn, we assure that Tatarstan we will do everything to ensure the implementation of the project is successful,” Tatarstan President.
Chemezov emphasized that the KAMAZ is the largest producer of heavy trucks in Russia. The company is in the top 20 of the world's leading automotive manufacturers.
