On October 22, at the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin had a meeting with a delegation of the Federal State of Bavaria (Germany) led by Deputy Prime Minister of Bavaria and Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy Hubert Aiwanger.
Welcoming the guests, Pesoshin noted that the Federal Republic of Germany and Bavaria, in particular, are the most important strategic partners of Tatarstan as part of Russian-German relations. “Official and business circles of Germany visit our republic. Representatives of Tatarstan meet senior executives of enterprises and study best practices during their visits to your country. The Trade and Economic Representative Office of the Republic of Tatarstan was opened in Germany in August. Flights from Kazan to Frankfurt have been operating since 2016,” he said.
The Prime Minister of Tatarstan stressed that Tatarstan has rich experience in business cooperation with German companies. For example, Siemens company is actively cooperating with regional enterprises, a large number of projects have already been implemented in various fields. Linde Group is successfully promoting cooperation with TAIF Group of Companies.
“Tatarstan has an advantageous geographical position in the east of the European part of Russia, being at the intersection of major highways. Oil is extracted and refined, petrochemical industry is developed, automobiles, airplanes, helicopters, ships, and engineering products are produced in the republic. We export more than 50 per cent of industrial goods,” Pesoshin said.
Head of the regional Government added that the republic focuses on the innovative development, nano- and biotechnology, and the production of composite materials. Special economic zones, industrial parks and technology parks, engineering centres are developing. Tatarstan has rich experience in conducting major international events.
Pesoshin outlined promising areas of cooperation between Tatarstan and Bavaria. “It is worth noting the involvement of potential residents in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone and Innopolis and other investment sites of Tatarstan, promotion of our export-oriented products to Bavaria. We are interested in the development of cooperation in the field of agriculture, construction, energy-saving technologies, healthcare, pharmaceuticals industry, culture, science, education, sports and tourism,” the Prime Minister of Tatarstan said.
In his turn, Aiwanger emphasized that Bavaria and Tatarstan have much in common. This applies to the economy, with engineering and agriculture being the important components, he added. “Our regions can also be compared in terms of the steps of strategic development that we are going to implement. Today everyone is talking about digitalization of the economy, robotics, industry 4.0. We must develop these areas in order to maintain competition in international markets,” Aiwanger continued.
As part of the visit of the Bavarian delegation to Tatarstan, the Tatarstan-Bavaria Economic Forum will be held in Kazan later on today. The programme includes a presentation of the investment and industrial potential of Tatarstan, examples of successful experience of cooperation with German partners, as well as presentations by representatives of the Bavarian business community.
