23 January 2020, Thursday

On January 23, speaking on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos (Switzerland), during a meeting with the media representatives, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that today, over 1,400 foreign companies are operating in Tatarstan and are aimed at import substitution and manufacturing of high-tech products.

Tatarstan President emphasized that Tatarstan is taking systematic efforts to attract investors. The republic has established an infrastructure for business development, including special economic zones and industrial venues with all the necessary conditions for the successful operation of resident’s industries.

“In general, over the past 5 years, fixed asset investment of Tatarstan amounted to at least 600-650 billion roubles — over 10 billion US dollars. At the same time, we think that if a bill on the protection and promotion of investment is adopted, this will help to significantly increase investment and create new production facilities and jobs,” Tatarstan President said.

According to Minnikhanov, the law on the protection and promotion of investment is especially relevant during sanctions and restrictions on access to external financial resources.

Minnikhanov emphasized that sanctions are the result of political disagreements, but business partners from America and Europe empathize with this situation.
