On February 2 in the evening, during his two-day working visit to New York, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with activists of the American Association of Tatars in New York.

The American Turkic-Tatar Association of San Francisco established in the 50s of the XX century and the American Tatar Association of New York officially registered on March 15, 1927 are the two organizations that carry out cultural and religious activities among the Tatars.
The moderator of today's meeting, which was held in Tatar, was Deputy Chairman of the Association Ildar Agish.
Speaking at the meeting, Minnikhanov noted that the current visit to the United States will be the next step in strengthening and developing ties with Western countries, including America.
Today the USA is one of the economic and business partners of Tatarstan, and there are more than 50 companies with the participation of American investments in the republic.
Minnikhanov noted that he often visits different Russian regions and foreign countries, and communicates with compatriots. According to him, he always feels pride during such meetings. It is gratifying that our compatriots live in peace with all peoples, are able to establish constructive relations, and most importantly, they carefully preserve the traditions and language of their people, he went on to say.
The meeting discussed issues of further cooperation, strengthening contacts with the republic and the executive committee of the World Tatars Congress.
It was also noted that a festival of Tatar song “Yzguresh Kile” was held at the Carnegie Hall Concert Hall in New York on January 17, 2020.
