On April 8, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a meeting of the Russian President Vladimir Putin, via videoconference, on combatting the spread of the new coronavirus infection in the country.
Putin emphasized that the main task for today is to ensure the high readiness of the medical facilities, and to significantly increase their resources and capabilities. The necessary federal support for these purposes has already been allocated and reached the regions. This includes more than 33 billion roubles for the deployment of additional specialized beds in hospitals and infection wards. About 13 billion roubles more were allocated for the purchase of medical equipment.
The head of state also announced financial support for specialists who work with coronavirus patients. “Additional payments for doctors working directly with coronavirus patients will be 80,000 roubles per month, 50,000 roubles for paramedical personnel, 50,000 roubles for nurses and 25,000 roubles per months for junior medical staff. Emergency physicians who also work with coronavirus patients will receive 50,000 roubles per month. Paramedics, nurses and drivers will get 25,000 roubles,” he said.
Putin noted that the main goal of the preventive measures taken is to protect people's lives and health. “At the same time, the economy cannot be stopped. We should not close down transport, freight, passenger traffic between the regions, massively restrict the work of enterprises, regardless of the real situation, even when there are a new cases of infection in a region,” the President of Russia emphasized.
Moreover, Putin told the meeting about additional measures to support business, families with young children, and also citizens who were without work.
