Tatarstan President lays flowers at the monument to the Tatar Poet Gabdulla Tukay

On April 26, on the 134th anniversary of the birth of the great Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukay, at the Gabulla Tukay park in Kazan, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov laid flowers at the monument to the poet.

Because of the epidemiological situation in connection with the coronavirus pandemic, the event was held without a mass gathering.

Earlier in his address, in difficult conditions of fight against coronavirus, Minnikhanov urged the Tatarstan people to follow what Gabdulla Tukay wrote: "... No matter where you drown - in milk or water, be patient, persistent and brave - do not give in to despair!”

State Counsellor of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev and Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan Farid Mukhametshin also honored the memory of the classic of Tatar literature.
