On September 15, at the Kazan City Hall, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov delivered his welcoming speech at the meeting of the working group on culture of the Russian-Kyrgyz intergovernmental commission.
Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic Azamat Zhamankulov took part in the meeting, with Deputy Minister of Culture of Russia Nikolai Ovsienko chairing the Russian side.
Minnikhanov noted that he highly appreciates the opportunity to develop cooperation between Tatarstan and Kyrgyzstan as part of the Russian-Kyrgyz relations.
According to him, the peoples of Tatarstan and Kyrgyzstan are united by a similar culture, common traditions, and similar languages. There is a great potential for building up economic and humanitarian cooperation, Minnikhanov said.
Tatarstan President expressed his hope that today's meeting of the working group will become an impetus for the further development of friendly relations.
Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova, who also took part in the meeting, welcomed the members of the working group and wished them good work.
The meeting discussed such topics as the implementation of large-scale projects, cooperation in the field of cinematography, inter-museum interaction, cooperation in the field of education.
