On December 2, at the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the Chairman of the Board of the World Muslim Communities Council Ali Rashid Al-Nuaimi.

The World Council of Muslim Communities was established in 2018 with the headquarters located in Abu Dhabi (UAE).

The Council aims to promote integration processes while preserving the national and religious identity of Muslims living in multicultural and multi-ethnic countries.

The Council includes over 550 leaders of political, scientific and religious communities from more than 140 countries, including Russia.

Tatarstan President welcomed the guests and congratulated the United Arab Emirates on its national holiday, Independence Day. “On this significant day, I wish peace and further prosperity to your state,” he stressed.

Minnikhanov emphasized that in Tatarstan and Russia as a whole the necessary conditions for the revival of spirituality are being established. Currently, there are almost 1,500 mosques in Tatarstan. Muslim education is a major focus in the republic. Thus, in 2017, the Bolgar Islamic Academy was established to revive the traditions of the domestic Islamic theological school. The Academy is already actively cooperating with the World Muslim Communities Council.

Minnikhanov emphasized that a lot of work is being done in the line of Russia - Islamic World Strategic Vision Group. Its activities are aimed at further bringing Russia closer to Muslim States on a cultural and civilizational basis, strengthening mutual understanding and trust between peoples, and countering the spread of ideas of extremism and terrorism.

During the meeting, Minnikhanov expressed his hope for the further development of successful and fruitful cooperation with the Council in strengthening universal human and spiritual values in the world.
