On June 9, at their meeting at the Governor's Palace of the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Minister of State for Food and Water Security of the United Arab Emirates Mariam Bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Almheiri discussed agribusiness relations and possible joint food supply projects to the United Arab Emirates.
During their visit to the republic, Arab colleagues visited the Single Presentation Centre of Tatarstan and got acquainted with the economic and investment potential of the region.
Tatarstan highly appreciates the development of cooperation between our republic and the UAE within the framework of Russian-Emirari relations. Relations between Russia and the UAE in the economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres are expanding; coordination on topical issues of the global and regional agenda is supported; trade and investment cooperation continues to grow. Last year, the Russian-Emirati trade turnover increased by 77 per cent. At its level, Tatarstan actively contributes to the strengthening of Russian-UAE relations, Minnikhanov emphasized.
In her turn, Almheiri thanked Tatarstan President for the warm welcome and fruitful programme.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the issues of culture of consumption, reduction of quantity of food waste, provision of quality agricultural products. They also agreed to establish a working group to study the issues of cooperation in the agro-industrial complex, possible joint projects on food supply to the UAE, product quality standards, exploring options to reduce transport costs in the delivery of food.
