The European Taekwondo GTF Championship and Championship started at the Ak Bars Martial Arts Palace

The GTF European Taekwondo Championship and Championship started in Kazan today. About 600 participants from 26 countries came to the capital of Tatarstan. The competitions will be held among men and women over 18 years old, juniors and juniors 15-17 years old, as well as boys and girls 12-14 years old and 10-11 years old. In total, athletes will compete for 285 sets of awards.

The opening ceremony of the tournament was attended by Grandmaster, IX dan, Technical Director Huang Ha, Minister of Sports of the Republic of Tatarstan Vladimir Leonov and President of the Taekwondo Federation of the GTF of Russia Damir Khalilov.

The participants were welcomed by the Minister of Sports of the Republic of Tatarstan Vladimir Leonov:

"According to a good tradition, our Ak Bars Martial Arts Palace hosts the championship and the GTF European championship in taekwondo. It is a great honor for us to host these competitions, and I am grateful to the International GTF Federation for choosing our city. I am glad to welcome all participants to Kazan! I wish all athletes victories and bright performances!", the minister said.

The GTF European Taekwondo Championships and Championships are held in accordance with the decision of the Executive Committee of the Global Taekwondo Federation, according to the ECP of the Ministry of Sports of Russia and with the support of the Ministry of Sports of Russia and the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan.

This is not the first GTF taekwondo competitions that take place in Tatarstan. Since 2013, all-Russian and international competitions have been held here. The legacy of the Universiade and the high-level holding of the GTF European Taekwondo Championship and Championship in 2019 played an important role in the decision of the GTF on the venue of the European Championship and Championship in 2021.
