According to an agreement on cooperation signed by Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Innopolis University, specialists of the University Research center together with employees of the Ministry will develop software for AI analysis and semantic search of products in the catalogue of the State Information System of Industry. The work will be carried out within the Federal National Project of AI of the National Program of Digital Economy of the Russian Federation and parties have agreed to cooperate at all stages of implementation of innovative projects, organize joint events and research including the international ones.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Vasiliy Shpak, who signed the agreement on behalf of the Ministry, said:” Today it is extremely important to develop efficient tool which enable quick search of necessary products manufactured by Russian companies, which can replace their missing foreign analogues. We already have necessary technological and scientific capacities and now we should join our efforts”.
Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, who took part in the signing ceremony, said: “The Innopolis University has an AI center which has been working for several years already, training specialists, carrying out research and developing applied solutions. In total the university has implemented more than 60 projects for the largest Russian companies in the sphere of AI. Moreover the university has an established AI research center the main objective of which is to this technology into the real sector of economy”.
In addition to searching the products analogues, it is planned to work in the sphere of AI assistant and the state support as well as using machine learning for teaching analysis and classification of documentation.
The participants of the meeting also discussed tighter cooperation of Russian radio-electronic producers and leading enterprises of the processing industry with students of IT universities so that representatives of organizations can tell students what technologies and solutions they are currently using, what skills they require and which software is being implemented. In 2021 the Innopolis University, , won a grant of 900m roubles for establishment of the AI research center within the federal AI project and will also get a financial support of 400m roubles from industrial ordering customers till 2024. Due to this financing the university will continue its work in five following sphres: AI_Materials, AI_Transport, AI_Logistics, AI_Vision and AI_Medicine.
