On 2 March at their meeting in the Government House in Kazan, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and representatives of the International Public fund “The Russian Peace Foundation” discussed their cooperation in a number of humanitarian spheres paying special attention to strengthening peace and concord between peoples and countries.
The organization established in April1961 has its branches working in 47 regions of Russia as well as representative offices in Germany, France, Finland, Switzerland and Lichtenstein, the USA, Georgia, Bulgaria and other countries and main directions of its work are strengthening peace and concord between peoples and countries, charity, prevention of ethnic, religious and social conflicts, human rights protection and development of international cooperation. It comprises several hundreds of thousand members such as war veterans, young people and children, workers of culture and science and representatives of partnering public organization of Russia and abroad.
On the errand of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Rustam Minnikhanov is the head of the Strategic Vision Group of Russia-Islamic world which pays the most serious attention to issues of cooperation and strengthening ties between Russia and Islamic countries.
Representatives of the foundation handed in Rustam Minniknanov a commemorative medal “60 years of the Russian Peace Foundation” for his contribution into strengthening the international stature of the Russian Federation and development of inter-confessional peace and concord.
Handing in the award, the First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Foundation Elena Sutormina said that “such awards are one-of-a-kind and are given to those who make their contribution into the development of international communication and cooperation”.
She said that Tatarstan demostrates active development and hosts many international events which also facilitates strengthening of contacts and ties and promotes friendship and concord between peoples.
