Rustam Minnikhanov has held a meeting of the regional organizational committee on celebrations of the 1100 years of adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria

On 8 May in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov held a meeting of the regional organizational committee on celebrations of the 1100 years of adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria. The State Counselor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev, regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and heads of various ministries, departments and municipalities of the republic also took part in the meeting where Rustam Minnikhanov underlined that according to the decree of the Russian President Vladimir Putin the celebrations of the 1100 years of adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria are held at the national level with a number of events to be organized in Tatarstan and other entities of the country.

Tatarstan President gave an errand to pay special attention to issues of public safety and first of all to providing enforcement of public order and following sanitary-epidemiological requirements.

Speaking about celebrations in detail, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Vasil Shaykhraziyev said that both the federal and regional plans consist of 150 action points to be held from 19 to 21 May, including the XIII International Economic Summit “Russia-Islamic World: KazanSummit 2022”, a meeting of the “Russia-Islamic World” Strategic Vision Group, a forum of Tatar religious leaders, a ceremony of laying the corner stone of the Cathedral Mosque in Kazan and the festive celebrations “Izge Bolgar Zhyyeny”.

He said that the preparation work has been practically completed and all events will be held at a special scale taking into account participation of delegations from Muslim countries, representatives from federal ministries and departments, foreign and Russian Muslim leaders and Tatar Diasporas. He added that organizers will try to pay attention to understanding of the past and the present of Russian Muslims and their contribution into development of Russian statehood and culture.
