Rustam Minnikhanov meets Ambassadors of the OIC member-countries

On 19 May on the margins of the XIII International Economic Summit Russia – Islamic World: KazanSummit 2022 Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Ambassadors of the OIC member-countries.

Speaking at the meeting, Minnikhanov expressed his gratitude to the ambassadors for taking part in the summit and active promotion of possibilities of cooperation with Russia and its regions.

He underpinned that cooperation with the Islamic world has always been and is one of the most important vectors of its international policy for Russia, and Tatarstan is the vanguard of interaction with Muslim companies with the trade turnover with OIC countries having made about 2bnUS dollars last year. “Using Tatarstan as an example and with your support we are trying to adjust practical mechanisms of interaction with Islamic business”, he said. 

He informed the Ambassadors that Tatarstan is one of the leading regions of Russia with well-developed spheres of machine building, oil and gas complex and agribusiness and is ready to supply KAMAZ trucks, helicopters, high speed and passenger ships, petrochemical products, mineral fertilizers, oil production machinery, agricultural products and medical and pharmaceutical goods. 

Tatarstan President noted that the Strategic Vision Group of Russia-Islamic world, which he heads starting from 2014, is an important mechanism of the joint work with the Islamic world.

Rustam Minnikhanov also reminded that Kazan has got the status of the OIC Youth Capital-2022 and invited representatives of the OIC member-countries to take part in the events organized in this respect in the capital of Tatarstan.
