The Russian Para Badminton Championship has started in Kazan

On June 20, the grand opening of the Russian Para Badminton Championship took place at the Badminton Center.

The guests of the event were Deputy Minister of Sports of the Republic of Tatarstan Ildar Sadriev, Vice-President of the Synchronized Swimming Federation of the Russian Federation, Honored Athletics Coach of Russia Olga Pavlova, Director of the Physical culture and Sports Society of the Disabled of the Republic of Tatarstan Farida Safiullina, chief judge of the competition, senior coach of the Russian para badminton team Dmitry Varfolomeev, President of the Badminton Federation of the Republic of Tatarstan Yuri Chaplygin, Director USC "Tennis Academy" and "Badminton Center" Vitaly Afanasyev.

In his welcoming speech, Ildar Sadriev noted that the number of participants and regions is increasing every year at the championship. "It is a great honor for us to host these competitions. There are no losers here, all the participants are already winners. Therefore, I wish you only success," the Deputy Minister said.

Olga Pavlova: "Our city is hosting the national Para Badminton championship for the first time, the geography of the tournament and the composition of athletes are impressive. Your feat is inspiring, and I wish you to play and win."

Dmitry Varfolomeev thanked the organizers of the competition and expressed hope that the tradition of holding para badminton tournaments in Kazan will continue.

98 athletes from 20 regions of the country take part in the tournament. The tournament is held in six sports classes. The winners are determined in all five categories.

The Republic of Tatarstan is represented at the championship by Oleg Dontsov (Kazan), Pavel Kulikov (Kazan), Ilnaz Giniyatullin (Buinsky district), Svetlana Nikanshina (Kamsko-Ustinsky district), Dinar Miftakhov (Kamsko-Ustinsky district).

The final games and the award ceremony of the winners of the competition will be held on June 23.
