On August 19, at the Government House of the republic, at his meeting with the delegation of the Union of Cooperatives of Indonesia “Kopontren”, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that Indonesia is one of the most intensively growing economies of South-East Asia and an important trade partner of Russia among ASEAN countries (Association of Southeast Asian Nations).

Recently, there has been an increase in Russian-Indonesian cooperation in various areas.

Minnikhanov emphasized that Tatarstan shows great interest in cooperation with Indonesia. A number of Tatarstan companies have experience of working in this country, but trade and economic interaction does not yet correspond to the existing potential.

“We are interested in expanding export deliveries to Indonesia of petrochemical and engineering products, trucks, helicopters, ships, tires, compressors, pharmaceuticals and medical equipment, and halal goods. You could also supply us with your products,” he said.

Tatarstan President noted that the development of cooperation between Tatarstan and Indonesia is facilitated by joint work through the Russia - Islamic World Strategic Vision Group. Indonesian delegations also take an active part in the International Economic Summit "Russia - Islamic World: KazanSummit". A delegation from Indonesia is also expected to visit the Kazan Global Youth Summit with the participation of the Ministers of Youth Affairs of the OIC countries.

The Union of Cooperatives of Indonesia “Kopontren” was established in 1994. Currently there are 2,439 cooperatives. It operates in various sectors of the Indonesian economy, creating both small and medium-sized and large enterprises. An important activity is the import of beef (halal) as well as the export of Indonesian agricultural products.
