The Russian Sailing Championship will be held in Kazan for the first time
From July 21 to 24, Kazan will host the Russian Championship in match racing, which will be attended by 12 crews from Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk Region and Saratov.
Kazan is hosting the All-Russian Youth Match Racing competitions of such a high status for the first time. The baton of the event was taken from the capital of the match flight - the city of Yekaterinburg, which has been hosting competitions in this discipline for many years, including international ones, at the level of European and World Championships and Cups.
The team of the Republic of Tatarstan will take part in the tournament for the second time.
Match racing is one of the most spectacular disciplines of sailing, the format of the competition, when the winner is determined as a result of a series of matches between pairs of participants. This is an actual duel between two crews, in which the one whose tactics turned out to be more effective wins. Unlike fleet races, in which the task is to break away from rivals and come first to the finish line, during a match flight, the skipper must perform any actions at a distance, taking into account his position relative to the opponent, not to break away from him and constantly monitor him.
The championship of Russia in match racing in Kazan will be held on yachts of the "Rocket 610" class. The organizing organization is the Sailing Federation of the Republic of Tatarstan with the support of the general partner of JSC Technopolis Himgrad.
