On November 16, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a joint meeting of commissions for scientific and technological development and the State Council for Science chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko and Chairman of the State Council Commission on Science, Governor of the Novosibirsk region Andrey Travnikov.
During the event, the National rating of scientific and technological development of regions for 2021 was presented for the first time. Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to form the rating following the results of the joint meeting of the State Council and the Presidential Council for Science and Education.
“The National Rating is aimed at encouraging the regions to change approaches to the formation of the scientific and technological environment, using its integral indicators.
I am sure the rating will become an efficient tool for researchers, federal and regional authorities, as well as business in objective assessment of the development of the industry at the local level and understanding the directions that need to be strengthened. This will allow the entities to develop their own innovative technologies and accelerate the achievement of technological sovereignty, to which Russian President has repeatedly referred. This year Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Tomsk region became leaders of the national ranking of scientific and technological development,” Chernyshenko said.
The top 10 also included the Republic of Tatarstan, the Republic of Bashkortostan, Novosibirsk, Sverdlovsk, Ulyanovsk, Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod regions.
Tatarstan makes a significant contribution to the dynamics of scientific and technological development of the country. A world-class scientific centre, as well as specialized educational, scientific and engineering centers have been established at the republic under the national project "Science and Universities". There is an intensive renewal of the instrumental base and personnel potential of the research and development sector. A network of youth scientific laboratories has been formed. Cooperative relations between enterprises and universities and scientific institutions are deepening. The task of restoring the technological sovereignty of our country comes to the forefront today. Prospects for the further development of the scientific complex of Tatarstan are largely focused on solving this problem,” Minnikhanov said.
At the end of the meeting, Chernyshenko instructed Russian Ministry of Education and Science to form an interdepartmental working group under the commission on scientific and technological development, which will make the next National Rating and, if necessary, optimize the methods of its formation.
