From January 14 to 18, Kazan will host an international ice hockey tournament among men's and women's teams – the first Tournament that will unite the entire Islamic hockey.
More than 300 athletes and functionaries from 13 countries – Bahrain, Iran, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Lebanon - will come to the capital of Tatarstan to participate in the competitions. Algeria, Morocco, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Turkey. The main venue for the matches will be the ice of the Sports Palace, some games will also be held at the Tatneft Arena Ice Sports Palace.
The main goal of the ice hockey tournament is to strengthen ties between Russia and the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in the field of sports, in particular, hockey. The organizers were the company LLC "UPC Tatneft – Ak Bars" and ANO DPO "Kazan International Institute for Cooperation with Countries of Africa and the Middle East".
As part of the tournament, the participants are also scheduled to hold the I-th Summit of the Islamic Hockey Association – Kazan Summit Cup 2023 "Islamic world - the future of ice hockey!". As part of the business program, an agreement will be signed on the establishment of the Islamic Hockey Association and the election of the President of the Association. In addition, a number of business sessions are planned at the Summit with the participation of representatives of the Republican Hockey Federation, the Ak Bars Academy and the Ak Bars SSHOR, the Center for the Development of Adaptive Sports of the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as hockey clubs of Tatarstan.
