21 May 2024, Tuesday

In his address on occasion of the Day of Official Adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated guests and residents of the republic with the holiday and said:

“More than eleven centuries ago in 922 our forefathers made their historical choice which predestined the Tatar people fate and influenced the development of the whole Muslim civilization.

A unique common culture environment with mutual penetration of cultures and close inter-confessional interaction developed here on the banks of the Volga.

Today the reborn Bolgar again is the center of attraction for religious, state and public leaders, scientists and representatives of culture and numerous guests from all over the world. The Izge Bolgar Djiene is a bright evidence of succession of generations, real patriotism and dedication to traditional spiritual values. All this gains special meaning in the Year of the Family announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In such life-changing times we together withstand the external challenges and threats and take care about the development of well-being of our multi-national Fatherland.

The economic forum “Russia-the Islamic World:KazanForum”, the meeting of the Strategic Vision Group “Russia-the Islamic World” and the All-Russian Forum of Tatar religious leaders held recently in Kazan have given a new impetus to the inter-religious dialogue and international cooperation. Participation of authoritative compatriots and foreign guests in these events confirms our being aimed at a fruitful internal Islamic and inter-religious dialogue, development of stable international ties and constructive state and religious cooperation.

I am sure that this year celebrations of the Day of Official Adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria will be marked by good prayers, friendly meetings and good deeds.”

In conclusion Rustam Minnikhanov wished everyone happiness, peace and prosperity and asked the Almighty to protect our great Fatherland.
