On April 13, in the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Ambassador of the Italian Republic to the Russian Federation Pasquale Terracciano.
In his welcome speech, Minnikhanov reminded that he and Pasquale Terracciano exchanged views about opportunities for cooperation during their meeting on the sidelines of the economic forum in Sochi in February this year. "During your visit to Tatarstan you will be able to get acquainted with the economic and cultural potential of our republic, determine the main areas for further interaction," Tatarstan President emphasized.
Minnikhanov said that the Russian President Vladimir Putin has set the task to actively cooperate with traditional foreign partners. "We have a lot of experience of cooperation with Italian companies, including Pirelli, Tecnimont, Ballestra, Bazell, Intesa, Saipem, Orlandi, Vomm and others. Many of them have been involved in our petrochemical, engineering, and agricultural projects,” Tatarstan President said.
Tatarstan President noted great potential for the development of trade turnover. "We need projects and intensify our work. Over the past year, the mutual trade has increased by 23 per cent,” Minnikhanov said.
According to Tatarstan President, there are many areas for the development of cooperation, including oil refining, petrochemical industry, automotive industry, auto components, tire production, IT, agriculture. "The main thing is the history of our contacts," he added.
Minnikhanov emphasized that a necessary infrastructure has been created in Tatarstan for potential investors. "There are special economic zones, territories of advanced development. This means that Italian companies can get everything they need to develop their business in a very short time. "
Then, the meeting participants considered further steps to develop and strengthen trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation between Tatarstan and Italy as part of Russian-Italian relations.
