Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in business breakfast hosted by Sberbank at KazanSummit

On May 10, on the sidelines of the 10th International Economic Summit “Russia - Islamic World: KazanSummit” Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Adviser to the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank Gurban-Zade Behnam, Vice-President - Chairman of Volgo-Vyatsky Bank Koltypin Petr, CEO of Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre Abdulla Mohammed Al Awar and Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer of the Islamic Development Bank Zamir Iqbal took part in business breakfast “Russia-Islamic World: Strategic partnership” hosted by Sberbank.

The participants discussed a number of issues of priority cooperation between Russia and the countries of the Islamic world, in particular, they considered cooperation in the field of Islamic banking, development of the halal sector and other pressing issues.

Speaking at the meeting, Minnikhanov emphasized that KazanSummit Forum is gaining momentum and has changed significantly in the past decade.

“We have gathered for the tenth time, KazanSummit is gaining momentum. We have increased tenfold in these ten years. To date, this Summit has become completely different - from the topic of Islamic banking has already turned into the topic of halal lifestyle. The Forum received the support of the Russian President. On the instructions of Vladimir Putin, Russia should have close contact with the Islamic world with the help of the Kazan venue,” Minnikhanov emphasized.

Tatarstan President reminded that today over 20 million Muslims live in the country, and expressed his hope that the Forum will help Russia to get close to the Islamic world.
