On May 10, at the Kazan Kremlin, at their meeting with Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Islamic countries to Russia declared about their determination to expand social and economic relations with Tatarstan.
Minnikhanov thanked the ambassadors for their active participation in the 10th International Economic Summit “Russia - Islamic World: KazanSummit”. Tatarstan President emphasized the importance of the forum in economic, geopolitical and cultural terms. In particular, he stressed its high consolidating role in counteracting the worldwide tendency of the negative portrayal of Islam.
Minnikhanov stressed that the Kazansummit is one of the largest venues in the world for four years where young representatives of the business community of the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation gather and work together on projects, strengthening relations between states.
He declared about determination of Tatarstan to export its products to the new markets of Islamic countries, as well as to attract business of the OIC countries to Tatarstan and to Russia.
“Growth points are oil and petrochemicals. Large hydrocarbon reserves in the republic are driving to the development of processing of raw materials. There are great prospects in heavy industry: helicopter and aircraft manufacturing, shipbuilding, engineering, IT, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, development of halal industry. We would like to promote the truck KAMAZ. Every third truck in Russia is manufactured in Tatarstan,” Tatarstan President said.
Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Russia Bakhrom Ashrafkhanov told the meeting about successful work of KAMAZ assembly plant in his country.
In addition to issues of economy, the meeting discussed the issues of development of cultural relations and the prospects of scientific and educational cooperation.
