On June 12, at a site near the Tatneft Arena Ice Palace, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in the presentation of an unmanned electric bus – the latest development of the automobile industry.

The guests were told about the independent control of the prototype “Wide-Adaptive Transport Logistics” (“SHATL”). Among the advantages of this electric bus are high operational efficiency, environmental friendliness, noiseless traffic and others.

The unmanned bus is designed for paved roads and uses data from digital maps, navigation and computer vision systems.

The electric bus is capable of reaching a speed of up to 110 km per hour, while in park and exhibition areas its speed is up to 40 km per hour. Today, the organizers of the event held a limited presentation of the “SHATL”. It was demonstrated that the vehicle recognizes objects and lays the route, determines the speed of the movement.

Minnikhanov was one of the first, who took the bus. He was told that four monitors are located on four racks, including data display monitors to track the location and movement of the vehicle. Specialists also told him about other features of the new development of the KAMAZ Automaker.

After the trip, Tatarstan President shared his impressions. "Everything is working properly. The electric bus has many capabilities, but the legislative base has some restrictions so far. Therefore, today we had only a demonstration trip. Due to its platform, which is noiseless and soft, the vehicle can be used in many projects," Minnikhanov said.
