Rustam Minnikhanov meets rectors of leading universities of the republic
On December 23, at the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov met rectors of the leading universities of the republic.
“Today we are going to traditionally summarize the results of work in the outgoing year, outline plans for the next year,” Minnikhanov said, opening the meeting.
In general, we are finishing the year with good results both in terms of gross regional product and industrial production, and in terms of investment in fixed assets. He noted that all the programmes of 2019 are being consistently implemented in the republic.
Tatarstan President noted the scientific and educational potential of the republic. Thus, more than 19 thousand teachers and scientists conduct educational activities, scientific research and development in the republic. This is a huge army, the intellectual potential of our republic, Minnikhanov emphasized.
He also reminded that a good infrastructure was created for universities in the region, including research laboratories, classes, research and educational centres. Today, about 130 small high-tech enterprises have been created at leading universities, with their main part located in the federal and two national research universities.
Minnikhanov said that it is a notable achievemnt that the Kazan Federal University is in the top 100 international rating for the first time.
According to Minnikhanov, the universities of the republic should take part in the implementation of the Education and Science national projects.
In addition to science and education, universities should pay no less attention to the upbringing of young people, including patriotic education, Minnikhanov said.
The meeting discussed topics related to the modernization of the education system, work with youth and the imrovement of the facilities of the regional universities.
