On January 16, in the Kazan Kremlin, Chief of Staff of Tatarstan President’s Administration Asgat Safarov launched a solemn ceremony of raising the flag of the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (TASSR).
“It is highly symbolic that we will raise the flag of the centenary of the foundation of our republic in the Kazan Kremlin. We affirm that state and municipal authorities, representatives of the business community, the public of the republic, the media and citizens of our republic are ready for the celebration. The main festive events will be held on May 27, June 25 and August 30 in the republic. It is planned to hold large forums, international conferences, cultural and sport events - both in the republic, and in the regions of Russia, and abroad in the Tatar communities,” Safarov said.
He emphasized that the programme of anniversary events is extensive and is aimed at the cultural and spiritual interests of citizens and the improvement of the quality of life of Tatarstan citizens.
Safarov gave the command to raise the flag, and the national anthem of the Republic of Tatarstan was performed.
The flag of the 100th anniversary is a white canvas with a golden border, the logo is shown in the centre, where the number 100 is fit in the capital letters of the TASSR.
At the end of the flag-raising ceremony, Director of the Institute of International Relations, History and Oriental Studies of Kazan Federal University Ramil Khairutdinov said that the white background symbolizes the purity of thoughts and achievements of the republic and the golden border is a testament to the region's merits.
The flags of the 100th anniversary will be raised in each of the municipal regions and urban districts of the republic.
