Rustam Minnikhanov has held a meeting of the Supervisory Board of the World Level Scientific Center “Rational use of the Earth liquid hydrocarbons deposits”
On 19 January Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov who is the Chairman of the International Supervisory Board of the World Level Scientific Center, took part in the first meeting of the Supervisory Board of the World Level Scientific Center (WLSC) “Rational use of the Earth liquid hydrocarbons deposits”.
The meeting considered results of the implementation of the WLSC establishment and development programme in 2002-2021 and the report for 2021.
In 2020 Kazan Federal University (KFU) became the general contractor of a grant to establish a World Level Scientific Center (WLSC) “Rational use of the Earth liquid hydrocarbons deposits” implemented within the federal project of “Development of large scale scientific and technological projects in priority research spheres” (National project “Science and Universities”).
Speaking at the meeting Minnikhanov reminded that there are only 10 such world level centers in Russia, with that of Kazan “Ecologically clean resource-saving power industry and efficient use of mineral and bio resources” being the only one in scientific-technical development in the country. The center also carries on developments focused on production of cheap and ecological oil for the domestic economy working as a consortium, the coordinator of which is KFU.
The Tatarstan President said that the meeting considered the work of the Center in 2020-2021, its fundamental outcomes, new technologies developed by researchers of the Centre and their practical implementation in the oil-and-gas sector of economy.
He said that he thinks the results of research carried out in the Center should first of all be implemented in domestic oil companies.
Speaking at the meeting, the scientific Supervisor of the Center, the Vice-Rector of KFU in oil technologies, use of nature and land sciences Danis Nurgaliyev reported about outcomes of the implementation of the WLSC establishment and development programme in 2002-2021. The report was approved by the Board which considered also other questions concerning the work of the center.
In conclusion, Minnikhanov said he was sure today’s meeting will facilitate further development of the scientific sphere related to rational use of natural deposits in Tatarstan and other regions of the Russian Federation and will increase the competitiveness of the Center among other leading scientific centers in the world.

The World Level Scientific Center (WLSC) “Rational use of the Earth liquid hydrocarbons deposits” works as a consortium the coordinator of which is KFU. In addition to KFU the consortium comprises such leaders in oil deposits research and new oil production technologies as Scolkovo Science and Technologies Institute (core samples and formation fluids studies); Ufa State Oil Technical University (reconnaissance and hydrocarbons reservoir engineering); Russian State Oil and Gas University after Gubkin (development of technologies for natural reservoirs enhanced oil recovery).
