On March 29, speaking at a plenary session of the Annual Investment Meeting in Dubai, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, who was invited as a special guest, said that the meeting is an excellent venue for presenting the investment opportunities of Tatarstan, exchanging experience with foreign partners and establishing new contacts.
Tatarstan President highly appreciated the efficiency of the Dubai Meeting and informed about the key development areas of the economy of the republic and focused on the issue of strengthening interaction with the Islamic world.

The Meeting is dynamically developing every year, gaining momentum and increasing the number of its participants, including from Russia. Tatarstan has been a partner and participant of the event in Dubai since its foundation. The meeting is an excellent venue for presenting the investment opportunities of our republic, exchanging experience with foreign partners and establishing new contacts.
Today, at this session, we have heard interesting discussions and expert opinions on an important topic “Investments in Sustainable Innovation for a Thriving Future”. This is a very pressing issue. For two years now, humanity has been living in a pandemic. The difficult geopolitical situation is creating major changes in the global economy. One of the global policy priorities is increasing investment in support of economic recovery, development and innovation.
Our republic represents an example of progressive development in various areas. Modern Tatarstan is one of the leading, industrial, scientific-educational and innovative regions of the Russian Federation with great investment potential. A powerful investment and innovation infrastructure has been established in our republic, including many sites of various levels and purposes: special economic zones, priority social and economic development areas, technology parks, industrial parks, industrial sites, business incubators, technopolises.
Tax, customs and commercial preferences have been created for investors in our republic. Our investor is provided with personnel, a strong resource base, convenient infrastructure, extensive cooperation ties with other regions of Russia and foreign countries.
The reliable basis of the economy of Tatarstan is the oil industry. We have a well-developed oil refining and petrochemical sector. Cars, airplanes, helicopters, ships, engineering products are produced. We fully provide ourselves with the main types of agricultural products. We are actively developing the halal industry and exporting our products. Tatarstan is one of the leaders in the national rating of the investment climate of the country. Special attention is paid to innovative development. Our republic is a pilot region for the implementation of the principles of Islamic banking and financing in Russia.
Tatarstan is a recognized leader of digitalization of all branches of the economy and public administration in Russia. The Year 2022 has been declared the year of digitalization in our republic. Innopolis, the youngest city in Russia, embodies the innovation. Today there is a special economic zone and the best IT university in Russia.
For many years, Tatarstan has been successfully cooperating with the Central Office and specialized institutions of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The thousand-year-old capital of our republic - the city of Kazan - was recognized as the Youth Capital of the OIC in 2022. Due to this fact, large number of interesting events will be organized in Tatarstan.
One of the most important venues for interaction is the annual International Economic Summit "Russia - Islamic World: KazanSummit". This year, it, as well as a meeting of the Strategic Vision Group "Russia - Islamic World", will be held in the republic during the celebration of the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria. The 45th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee is planned to be held in Kazan in June this year, which will bring together guests from all over the world, including from Muslim states.
