Rustam Minnikhanov meets Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedow

On 24 April at their meeting in the Palace of Congress in Ashgabat, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, who came on a one-day working visit to Turkmenistan, and Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedow discussed prospects of further expansion of cooperation.

Speaking at the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov once again congratulated Serdar Berdimuhamedow with his decisive victory at the presidential elections and said: “Last year our trade turnover was 77.5m US dollars. There is a huge potential to increase this number including such spheres as oil exploration, production, gas transportation, auto- and ship building and delivery of chemical products”.

In his turn Serdar Berdimuhamedow pledged his readiness to continue tradition of close cooperation with Tatarstan as one of the economically and industrially developed regions of Russia.

Using the chance, Minnikhanov invited a delegation from Turkmenistan to take part in events dedicated to 1100 anniversary of adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria.

Later the same day the leaders walked round an exhibition dedicated to the national holiday –The Day of a Race Horse and the Turkmen alabay (a local dog breed). 

In the current year diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan celebrate their 30th anniversary and Tatarstan takes active part in Russian-Turkmen relations.

Branches of such leading companies as the Tatneft Oil, KAMAZ Automaker and KER-Holding work in Ashgabad. Nearly two thousand KAMAZ trucks have been supplied to Turkmenistan, the Tatneft actively works with the Turkmenbit Company and the Kazan Helicopter Plant has supplied ANSAT and MI-17-1B helicopters for medical emergency services, The Zelenodolsk Shipbuilding Plant supplied two  A 145  high-speed passenger ships.
