During his working trip to Baku Rustam Minnikhanov meets representatives of Tatar public organization of Azerbaijan

On 28 November Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, who came on a working trip to Azerbaijan, met representatives of Tatar public organization of the country.

Currently there are more than 27 000 Tatars living in Azerbaijan and several organizations working in the republic, including the Center of Tatar Youth Yashlek, the Regional Society of Tatar Culture Tugan Tel. public union Tatarstan and the branch of the Tatar women society Ak Kalfak in Azerbaijan. 

Speaking to compatriots at the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov said: “Tatarstan and Azerbaijan are historically tied by warm and friendly relations. And our compatriots, living here, make a huge contribution into the matters of preservations of the language, traditions and culture”.

He also informed them that all their requests related to preservation and support of the native language will be closely considered. 

Tatarstan President also attended an exhibition dedicated to history of Tatars in Azerbaijan and Tatar-Azeri relations.

These days the Kazan Tatar State Young Spectators Theatre is having its tour in Baku and an exhibition dedicated to the 110th anniversary of adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria was held in the city.
